I've never been in NYC over NYE but I am always reminded of it because of old movies, and ads on tv for champagne growing up. NYE in its hopeful/melancholy to me: Frank Sinatra, the Strokes "Hard To Explain" video, the end of "Radio Days," drinking a last beer with the last 3 friends at 3 am because hey its 19__ or 20__, etc...
